Segontium is the remains of a roman fort on the outlying regions of Caernarfon in Gwynedd, North Wales. This was orginally garrisoned by Ronman auxillary toops who would have come from the area of which Belgium and Germany stands today. This old fortification is referenced in Welsh mythology including ‘The Mabiginion’. The fortress’ main role was to defend the coastline from pirates and raiders from Ireland.
